Finding connections between words
Spelloops is a word puzzle series built around discovering words that overlap to form loops. Published puzzles invite players to explore the connections between words.
The approach
The published Spelloops puzzles are available through Nucleus Learning. A separate software prototype searches a dictionary for words whose endings and beginnings overlap, including the connection that closes the loop. It explores themed word selection, different overlap and length limits, and adjustable difficulty.
Bringing it together
The prototype translates a generated word loop into shared letter positions on a rotatable wheel. Players can move letters between a tray and the wheel; the game tracks placements, offers hints, and checks a completed ring even when it starts at a different rotation.
